day +468

I didn't sleep well last night. Around 3 in the morning I awoke irritated by itchy skin. I scratched and scratched my chest, back, and legs in vain hoping for some long lasting relief. Frustrated and half-awake after doing this for several minutes without any improvement, I applied Eucerin lotion all over my body. With the itching alleviated, some how I was able to return to sleep but didn't get up until late this morning.

Last winter, I suffered from persistent dry, itchy skin. It was terribly frustrating. I can't recall ever dealing with anything like this prior to my transplant. As it has gotten colder during the past 2-3 weeks, the irritable itching has manifested itself once again. I brought this issue to Dr. C-M's attention last week. As he did last year, he told me it's a consequence of the changing weather as well as the water itself. The only remedy, it seems, is to stay well moisturized.

Hey Duane... I'm sorry you're so itchy, I'm a lil extra itchy myself. One tip I was given last year was to apply baby oil when you get out of the shower and you're still wet, and then let it soak in and then towel off... it might help seal in some moisture, and you can still use some lotion on top too, for extra itch prevention :) Most baby oils smell pretty girly, but I bet you they made an unscented one or something, you don't want to smell like a baby!

I hope you stop being itchy!

Thanks Kel Kel.

Someone mentioned similar tips. I felt much, much better last night after following these new steps. I also picked up a humidifier today, which hopefully will add more relief.

Thanks again. ;)

Duane, I too woke up itchy a few nights ago. For me it was on the back of my head.
