yellowstone and grand teton

Below are some more spectacular photographs by James Neeley, whose images of Glacier National Park I shared two days ago. Some are so stunning that I couldn't but think that they had been altered in some way. Nonetheless, you can look at these and other photographs in more detail here.

Also, check out this very famous 1872 landscape painting by Thomas Moran titled the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. Look at the great resemblance between his painting and James Neeley's first photograph above. I just wonder if the height of the river depicted is the same today as it was in 1872. I doubt it.
