stupid cancer

Last Tuesday, The Stupid Cancer Comedy Show was held at Gotham Comedy Club as a fundraising event for Matthew Zachery's website, I'm Too Young For This. Su was able to make it as well as Lindsey, Kelly of Chemopalooza, and Sandy of Sanbans Lymphorama. However, I of course missed out since I'm supposed to avoid crowds or large gathering for at least the first 100 days post-transplant. Nevertheless, Ben Bailey of Cash Cab on the Discovery Channel performed that night. I saw him once do stand-up at Comedy Cellar, I think. Su and I both enjoy that show and would love to be on it. A few months ago, Cash Cab had a week devoted to shark trivia in honor of Shark Week on the Discovery Channel, so why not have a Cancer Week? Maybe Ben Bailey could pick up patients from the York Avenue entrance of Sloan-Kettering and bring them to their destination. Su said she told him about our idea. Let's see what happens. Anyway, here's a slideshow of The Stupid Cancer Show.

Here's a clip of Matthew Zachery's performance from The Side Order of Life.

Finally, in today's Daily News there's an article about Matthew titled His Cancer Fight is for Others, Too.

Hey Duane - is it just me or is your blog doing something weird - I had to scroll way, way down the page to find this post!

Hadn't realised Su was at the Comedy Show - did she meet Kelly??

Hi Veronica,

Thanks for bringing any problems you may find with my blog to my attention. I'm always trying to make tweaks. However, I just viewed my blog with Firefox and IE 7.0 and this particular post was at the top. Try reloading your browser. Maybe this may correct it.

If anyone, however, is having the same issue, please let me know.

Thanks Vernoica.

BTW, I don't think Su met Kelly since I didn't realize Kelly was going until the night of the show and by then, it was too late for me to inform Su.

Hey Michelle,

The Side Order of Life is a Lifetime series about a group of young adult friends, who are going through different challenges in their lives. One of the characters has cancer and with regards to this character, that is when Matthew introduces himself and his organization. I didn't know about this show until Matthew told me about it.

Talk to you soon,
