more on jack lalanne

There's something I really liked that Jack LaLanne said in the video here (which I blogged about two weeks ago). Though he was talking specifically about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, I think his advice could be embraced more generally and incorporated into the philosophical ethos by which one should lead their life. He stated:

You gotta be selfish about life. What's it doing for me? Is it going to help my health, my teeth, my energy, my vitality, [not audible], my sex life?

Though I probably wouldn't use the word "selfish," the message is clear. I prefer to use "ambitious." His key question is "What's it doing for me?" Whatever "it" is, one must ask him or herself how it's benefiting them. Looking at myself, for the most part I've gone forward tackling different tasks with great ambition and enthusiasm hoping to achieve some degree of success. As Jack LaLanne makes clear, I think such a perspective is important for personal happiness and achievement whether the topic be health, education, or work. Moreover, I think the argument could be made that this same string of ambition kneads them all together.

Totally in agreement. Often we think it's selfish to think of ourselves, but when it comes to health, gotta think of old number one first :)
Congrats on graduation. You are inspiring. I hope you don't mind, I linked to your blog on mine.
