please donate to help tammer reach his goal

I am excited to share some wonderful news. My friend, Tammer Ramini, who graduated from the same MA program that I myself am about to graduate from at The University of Chicago will run his first marathon in Chicago in October through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training Program. He will run in honor of his cousin who passed away from leukemia, an 11 year old leukemia survivor and yours truly. His goal is to raise $5,000 for the LLS in order to help it continue its excellent work in the fields of cancer research and patient advocacy.

I, like many other blood cancer patients, have used the resources of the LLS, whose services are well-known for their quality and scope.

Below is the text of the e-mail that he sent me and others. I'm trying to spread the word about Tammer's wonderful undertaking. Please read his message and I ask that you donate whatever you can to help Tammer and the LLS. Please spread the word!

Thank you.

ear friends,

I hope this email finds you healthy and happy! I'm writing to offer all of you a chance to help me support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in its battle against blood cancer. I have decided to run my first marathon in Chicago in October through the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training Program.

In addition to increasing my own personal fitness, I have undertaken this challenge in order to reduce the number of lives taken by leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's lymphoma, myeloma, and other blood related cancers by committing to raise a minimum of $5,000. I am therefore asking you, my friends, to make a 100% TAX DEDUCTIBLE donation which will fund the research being done to find cures for such blood cancers as leukemia, which is the #1 cause of death of children between the ages of 1-14 and takes the lives of 50,000 people each year.

As I train for the physical rigors of the 26.2 mile run, I know that all of you will be with me in spirit. Furthermore, I am running in honor of Shelby Kay Batley, an 11 year-old leukemia survivor who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphatic Leukemia when she was 4 years-old and my friend and former colleague Duane, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2003 and is still currently battling the cancer. Also, I am running in loving memory of my dear cousin, Sammy Hassan, whose life was cut short when he lost his battle with Leukemia.

My goal is to raise a minimum of $5,000 by August to help Shelby, Duane, and others like them. Your donations will provide money for research and patient aid as well as provide hope to cancer victims and their families.

Whatever you can give will all adds up!

Donating is fast, easy and secure and can be done through the following link:

When you donate on-line, you will automatically receive a confirmation email with tax deduction information.

I thank you all in advance for your support.

P.S. Please forward this email to anyone you know who would be willing to help!

With love and appreciation,

Tammer Ramini
