knock on wood

I called Coleen, the HLA typing-NMDP coordinator at Weill Cornell, in order to learn if there was any new information about my two prospective donors. The news is very good. The first individual is a 12/12 match on the allele level. He is a 32 year old Latino male. The second is a 11/12 match on the allele level. He is a 18 year old Latino male. She said that as of now they have consented to participate. They were told that the transplant would not take place until around early June.

Knock on wood. Su joked that the two prospective donors should be placed in a witness protection program. And I laughed saying I should hire a security unit to guard them wherever they go between now and transplant day.

Duane, I am so happy to read that you have two matching donors. I agree, keep them in a witness protection program! Just before my transplant, I kept a close eye on my twin sister who was my donor for my SCT last July -- I didn't let her out of my sight ;)

Hang tough -- you'll do well! Keep the faith and lots of positive thought and prayers your way.

Best Wishes,

Anne
