suvivor scholarship program

Stem cell transplant survivor Jonathan Espenschied MD, who founded Working Against Cancer, asked BMT InfoNet (a great online resource) to share information about a new scholarship opportunity.

The Working Against Cancer's website describes the scholarship opportunity as follows:

The Survival Scholarship Program assists young adult cancer survivors by providing awards toward academic and vocational education. These scholarships will encourage each recipient to engage in a trade, an art, or some other form of higher education relieving some of the additional burden in obtaining the necessary finances to reach these goals. Candidates must be a cancer survivor or recently diagnosed with cancer, but do not need to be currently receiving treatment to qualify. WAC hopes to award two scholarships per school year with the deadline for applications in the Fall. If you missed this scholarship cycle, please check our web site frequently as we will offer new scholarships and applications on an annual or semi-annual basis.

Two awards of $500 each will be granted for the 2006 fall semester.
