support the laf

My friend Laura from across the pond (the Atlantic) sent out the following email to her friends and family. I thought I'd share it with you all.

Dear friends,

One in three people will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime. Cancer affects each and every one of us. At twenty-three, I am young to be a cancer survivor, but I am also very lucky to be a survivor.

On October 8, 2006, I will bike ride 100 miles in Austin to honor so many lives affected by cancer. Just as I didn’t go through cancer (Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma) alone, I will not ride alone. My team, Oxygen, already has ten very inspiring members and is open to anyone who would want to cycle or run at varying levels.

Our goal is to fundraise $1,000 for every mile/km Oxygen rides/runs, a total of $110,000 for the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF). This is a very ambitious goal, but not too ambitious to help millions of cancer patients and survivors.

Lance Armstrong has shown cancer survivors and the world that there are no limits to life post cancer. His foundation, LAF, inspires and empowers those affected by cancer through advocacy, public health and research programs. LAF helps people with cancer focus on living.

Please donate with your heart. Thank you in advance for your time and generosity.
