to pluto and beyond

NASA's New Horizons spacecraft will lift off today hopefully from Cape Canaveral. The two previous launches were scrubbed because of the high winds around the Cape. Its mission is to explore Pluto and its moon, Charon, as well as the Kuiper Belt of asteroids and other moon-like objects. But don't expect it to arrive at its destination anytime soon. At the earliest, it will arrive at Pluto in 2015.

I watched the first postponed launch. I hope to watch today's launch as well. Please click the image to learn more about this fascinating mission.
