sketch comedy

Last night Ben and I checked out a performance at the National Comedy Theatre on W. 36th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues. It was my first time at a sketch comedy show in NYC. He, however, has visited a few other places, though for us both it was our first time at the National Comedy Theatre. My only past experience with sketch comedy is at Second City in Chicago. I'm a lot more familiar with stand-up, however.

The show started slowly, but it became progressively better. In sum, it was full of light-hearted fun and the jokes were definitely much more tame and innocent than I'm used to at stand-up comedy clubs. The audience appeared to be much younger than that of the comedy clubs I have visited and families made up a larger percentage of the audience too. I'd be interested to check out another sketch comedy show in the city.
