can you dig it?

The DVD Director's Cut of the classic 1979 film, The Warriors, is available now. I purchased it about 2 days ago. Based in the graffiti plagued New York City of the 1970s, the Warriors, a gang falsely accused of killing the city's most respected gang leader, comes head-to-head with other vengeful gangs as they fight their way from The Bronx back to their home turf in Coney Island. It offers an interesting look back at how the subway system looked 30 years ago. Remember the tokens with the hollow star shaped center? Well, they're here. Equally fascinating are the multitude of colorful gangs, which have their own special personality, such as the all-lesbian gang, the black panther gang, or the gang full of guys covered in face paint and dressed in baseball uniforms carrying Louisville sluggers. The main theme song rocks too! All in all it's an entertaining action film based in retro NYC during its high-crime, graffiti filled days.
